Light, heavy, 2-wheel … each vehicle belongs to a specific class. There is a toll rate for each type of vehicle.
There are 5 vehicle categories
Motorway tolls are divided into 5 classes that correspond to the 5 regulatory categories of vehicles defined according to their height, weight and number of axles.
Did you know?
Category 2 vehicles adapted for carrying disabled people are entitled to a Class 1 toll rate. Registration papers must specify that the vehicle is “for use by disabled people”.
Category 1
Light vehicles
- Overall height less than 2 metres
- GVWR no more than 3.5 tonnes

Category 2
Intermediate vehicles
- Overall height exceeding 2 metres
- GVWR no more than 3.5 tonnes

Category 3
Heavy goods vehicles and coaches (2 axles)
- Overall height exceeding 3 metres
- GVWR exceeding 3.5 tonnes

Category 4
Heavy goods vehicles and coaches (3 or more axles)
- Overall height exceeding 3 metres
- GVWR exceeding 3.5 tonnes

Category 5
2 wheels (Motorcycles, motorcycles with side-cars, tricycles)
